about

Led by singer/songwriter Liam McKahey, this exceptional band delivers songs of love, loss, trains, treachery and opiates.

Previous to forming the Bodies, McKahey fronted the UK-based Cousteau that released three critically acclaimed albums and sold tens of thousands of albums worldwide, achieving coveted gold status in Italy.

After the release of the first Liam McKahey and the Bodies album “Lonely Road” ,McKahey immigrated to Australia from England and reformed the Bodies with some of Australia’s finest musicians:Niall Howe, John Coates, Jenny Spear, Alex Ross and newest member Pete Velzen (drummer of the Falling Joys, Gadflys and formerly the Plunderers).

Funded through a Pozible crowdfunding campaign in 2014, the second Bodies album “Black Vinyl Heart” was recorded, mixed and mastered in 2014. This latest offering and the band’s live shows have received critical acclaim in Australia and overseas.

The Sydney Morning Herald boasts: “the album is impressive. It seamlessly crosses genres between rock, blues, country, Americana, surf and even mariachi inspired swing. With a soulful yet strong voice, McKahey cuts an imposing presence, both on stage and on record… everywhere the band has been playing of late, mostly around Canberra and Sydney, the shows have rocked”

London’s “Vive le Rock” had this to say… “like a drinking session between the Afghan Whigs, Johnny Cash and David Bowie. From the Spanish horns opener of Dirty Mind and Blood Meridian, to McKahey’s stunning deep vocals on the outlaw highlight ‘Long Black Train’, this is a record that oozes class and cool”.

In addition to the Bodies, Liam has collaborated with other renowned artists, including Midge Ure and Julian Lennon, on the International Blue project - overseen by legendary Bowie producer Tony Visconti and recorded at Abbey Road Studios.. The album will be released in Australia in the coming months.
